Chamber - Etteln
Chamber - Etteln

This neolithic grave was used by a community or clan of early farmers for their funerals.
Visible are the wall sones, which bend inside by the force of surrounding soil. Originally, the chamber was covered with large lime plates. The chamber was inside earth to two third, and covered with a large earth mound. The entry from the south lead into the now subterranean chamber.
Some relicts that were found, are now shown in the Museum für Vor- und Frühgeschichte in Münster and in the Heimatmuseum des Kreises Paderborn, in the Wewelsburg.

Those graves were used for a whole kin. Built without entry passage tunnel, there was an opening for later burials. There are really huge stones, and sometimes gather in neighborhood to other dolmen. Originally, those graves were covered with soil.
