Extended dolmen Krelingen |
This grave was examined by K. L. Voss in 1968 and reconstructed. It was located in a shallow hill and was surrounded by a giants bed (rock rim 13 x 7 m). The six - yoke grave chamber measures 7.5 x 1.8 m, and had a clear height of 1.6 m.
In the grave chamber, fragments of pottery dating back to the builders were found. In contrast, however, an outstanding floor plaster remained between the wall and paving stones, and a carefully compounded stonework in the interstices.
From the entrance to the grave chamber in the surrounding giants bed numerous fragments of pottery were found, indicating burial ceremonies. For them, numerous vessels are reconstructed, suggesting cultural influences from East Germany.
By the end of the stone age, the middle capstone broke and fell into the chamber. Through this opening, post-burials took place in the two still intact sub-chambers, as pieces of giant cups of the later single grave culture show. quoted from the information board.

Those graves were used for a whole kin. There are really huge stones, and sometimes gather in neighborhood to other dolmen. Originally, those graves were covered with soil. This can be seen clearly here as the surrounding stones remained, sometimes in part.
