Großdolmen mit Schälchenstein
Großdolmen mit Schälchenstein

This megalithic grave was described by Prof. Dr. Ewald Schuldt as a dolmen consisting of two jochen. The Grave is completely destroyed.
On the partially incompltete capstone are 167 cup marks of about 4 cm depth. These marks were applied by picking or drilling. It is unprobable, that these marks were made when the grave was built. It is more reasonable to assume that the cup marks were created during the elder bronze age. As for a vertically placed surface, a usage as sacrifice cups is impossible. Some guys associate with native indian habits, ritual healing ceremonies and medical applications of the dust of the holy stone.

Topic of this tour are cups - small artificial holes picked in the surface and are of prehistoric origin. Unfortunately, very little is known about these artifacts. In Bunsoh I cannot imagine, that the marks were made after completion of the grave mound. Probably, they had been there before the graves were constructed? Anyhow, they really look the same, no matter if there are few or many cups.
This is a compilation of megaliths elsewhere within my site.
